MILWAUKEE – It’s the roar that made Milwaukee famous — the distinctive throaty rumble of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. But that much-loved racket could be rumbling away to another state if the company cannot bring down its labor costs. Harley-Davidson warned employees in April that it will move its Wisconsin manufacturing operations elsewhere if it cannot cut millions of dollars at the factories that build the bikes known as "Milwaukee Iron."

Harley’s corporate headquarters would remain here, but that’s small consolation to a community that has already endured repeated blows to its civic identity. "When you think of Milwaukee you think of beer, brats and Harley-Davidson," said Steve Daily, a researcher at the Milwaukee County Historical Society. "Right or wrong, that’s what it is."

My question is, how is moving to another state going to cut labor costs and how are the employees expected to do that? Is Harley saying that if the employees don’t take pay cuts that Harley will move to a state where people will work for less or is Harley talking about leaving the country? I don’t see how moving to a different state is going to cut millions at the factory. I’m not good at economics so I could use some help here.

Can anyone think of a good ‘biker’ nickname for my Dad for his Harley Davidson chapter? His name is Will Field any suggestions would be great. A little information that might help he has black hair and a black beard, 6 ft and is pretty easy going , thanks x

I say they did it to themselves. All the other Bike companies are still thriving. Harley is rapidly becoming a company who caters to the elite. Even their throw away Sportster is over priced. Until they get a clue, they are losing a heck of a lot more buyers.

What type of charger does a vintage harley davidson buddy l powerwheels use.(it has a 6 volt battery in it) I purchased this on ebay without a charger HELP!!!!!! Thank you in advance John

looking for a place to buy one and the spec for an 80in Harley Davidson.

I currently do not own a motorcycle, but am looking to purchase my first to ride for a long daily commute (140 miles daily total). I really like the Harley-Davidson Iron 883 Sportster, but I have been hearing mixed reviews about them. I know with the air cooled engine, you will get more vibration. Also, I hear the suspension is rough. Would this be uncomfortable for a long ride? How would the Iron 883 compare to the liquid cooled Honda Shadow Phantom?
